Troubleshooting

Why Isn't My Self-Cleaning Filter Cleaning Properly?

Troubleshoot incomplete cleaning cycles, persistent differential pressure, and poor performance.

A self-cleaning filter that does not clean properly may leave debris on the screen after each flush cycle, causing differential pressure to stay high. This can happen when the cleaning mechanism is not operating correctly, flush flow is insufficient, or the debris type is difficult to remove.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Confirm the flush valve is opening fully
  • Check that adequate flush pressure is available
  • Inspect the screen for damage or embedded debris
  • Verify controller settings and cleaning duration
  • Review whether the debris is sticky, fibrous, or biological

If the filter repeatedly fails to return to normal differential pressure after cleaning, the system may need service, a longer cleaning cycle, or a filter design better suited to the debris in the water.
